'Scary Movie 5′ Review

My disdain of the 'Scary Movie' franchise came early. I distinctly recall seeing the 'Scary Movie 2' poster, which featured Kathleen Robertson wearing a t-shirt that says "I See Dead People." This isn't a joke. It's just a reference. It isn't clever, it isn't witty - it's just saying a thing from another movie. It's not funny.

Almost 10 years later, 'Scary Movie 5' still suffers from this debilitating problem. There is absolutely nothing funny about going 'Inception'-style into Christian Grey's S&M room and having Mike Tyson show up. Yet, if you are somehow able to ignore the lowest common denominator pop culture appearances (I hesitate to even call them jokes) there are a great number of truly amusing gags and examples of rapid fire dialogue zings. Put bluntly: when the film is freed from the shackles of its referencing mandate, there's some good, dopey humor in here. Much to my surprise, I laughed out loud a good half-dozen times.

Lindsay Lohan clearly doesn't take her trouble with the law seriously, or else she'd stay out of it. But on the bright side, it may well make for awesome TV.

The starlet, more famous for going to (or missing) court dates than for most of her work on camera, had no issues making fun of herself on 'Anger Management' alongside pal and frequent bailer-outer Charlie Sheen.

Lindsay Lohan has finally jetted off to Brazil to attend her boyfriend Avi Snow's concert with his band, City of Sun. But not before angering yet another crew with her antics, with this month's victims being Charlie Sheen and the cast and crew of 'Anger Management.'

On the first day of shooting (Monday, March 25), La Lohan surprised everyone by showing up early and being generally agreeable during her guest starring appearance.

However, by the time she was done with her stint, everyone -- including Sheen himself -- was starting to learn what the crew of 'The Canyons' learned the hard way: Maybe working with the troubled starlet is more trouble than it's worth.
