Coldplay performed not one but two songs on ‘American Idol‘ during tonight’s (May 3) elimination/results episode. Coldplay twice is nice, right? It was the band’s first time performing on ‘Idol,’ so they had to go big and bring it times two.

As one of the U.K.’s greatest exports and possibly the biggest band in the world right now, Coldplay are pretty much guaranteed to perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, right? Nothing is confirmed, but the band seemed to hint at a possible Olympic performance in a new interview with ET Canada.

Coldplay have finalized their 2012 North American tour, adding dance-pop singer Robyn as one of their opening acts, in addition to lining up performances on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ this weekend following the Oscars and at the Amnesty International Secret Policeman’s Ball one week later in New York City.

British citizens should be proud of their fellow brethren Adele, Coldplay and Florence + the Machine, thanks to their performances at the 2012 BRIT Awards last night (Feb. 21.) They should also adopt Rihanna, because the Bajan beauty also brought the house down with her performance.

It doesn’t include any cartoons or Vince Guaraldi piano, but Coldplay‘s new video clip for ‘Charlie Brown,’ their latest single from the chart-topping ‘Mylo Xyloto,’ does feature plenty of eye-catching visuals — along with all the soaring melody you’ve come to expect from the band.

Not only will Katy Perry and Coldplay be performing on the Grammy Stage Feb. 12, the two popsters will be honoring Paul McCartney two days prior at this year’s MusiCares tribute concert. Alicia Keys is also listed as a performer.

Rihanna contributed vocals to Coldplay‘s song ‘Princess of China’ on ‘Mylo Xyloto.’ While it’s quite possible that RiRi, Chris Martin and co. were never in the same room when she laid down her vocals, thanks to the wonders of technology, they will get on the same stage this February, when they perform together for the first time at the Grammys.

Coldplay are hard at work performing throughout Europe on a nightly basis for arenas filled with screaming fans. Now, their loyal listeners across the pond will also be able to take in a live Coldplay show. The band has just announced a string of North American tour dates for next year kicking off in April 2012.

The 2012 BRIT Awards have yet to even announce their nominees, but The Sun is reporting that Coldplay and Rihanna have already agreed to perform their collaboration ‘Princess of China’ at the ceremony.

When a multi-Grammy-winning, across-the-globe successful act shows up to play outside the NBC ‘Today’ show studios, they don’t come alone. Coldplay took the stage to perform on Friday’s show, and as expected, music fans packed Rockefeller Center hoping to catch a glimpse — or at least an earful.
