After a lot of couch jumping on Oprah and 5 years of marriage - Hollywood's "IT" couple is calling it quits. Katie Holmes announced this morning that she and Tom Cruise have decided to end their marriage.

The 4th of July is coming up Wednesday and firework stands have opened up all around East Texas.  In my neighborhood alone, there are four stands selling the them and I'm sure I'll be stopping by one of them soon to buy some because my daughter has asked when we're buying fireworks!  She began asking the day she saw those portable stands show up on the roadside.

Today's employees are being freed from a 9-to-5 job thanks to smartphones, mobile apps and the cloud. As a result of technology that's allowing employees to do many things outside the office, many bosses aren't looking at the time clock that closely any more.

Last year the East Texas heat was brutal and it reflected on our electric bills because we turned down the air conditioner to get a little relief.  That little relief cost us though because our electric bills skyrocketed.  With the return of triple digit temps this week, it looks like the cycle will continue again this year.

The Summer Olympics are being held in London in about a month and here in the U.S. Olympic trials are going on all around the country and the teams are coming together.  The track team trials are being held in Eugene, OR and an unprecedented thing happened over the weekend in the women's 100m.

In preparation for the Dam Fireworks show Saturday at Lake Tyler, the boat ramp at Lake Tyler Concession Park will be closed.

After reading more about the Boys and Girls Clubs of East Texas, I wish I was a kid again! It sounds like they’re learning some valuable life skills — even how to change a flat tire. That means 9-year olds who hang out at the Boys and Girls Club this summer, will come in handier in a pinch than most adults. And one super cool new attraction for the Boys and Girls Club just opened!

Summer is great in Texas, on boats and at the pool. It’s all fun and games until somebody gets a nasty, blistering sunburn. I got one of those several years ago at Lake Travis in Austin. Gas prices here in East Texas were around $3.82 in mid-April and now two and a half months later prices have fallen around $0.70 here in East Texas.  Now, don't get me wrong $3.15 a gallon is still on the high side for gas, but it's cheaper than it was a couple of months ago and with lower gas prices, AAA says there will be more people on the road for the 4th of July holiday weekend than in the pa

Although today is officially the first day of summer, volunteers at PATH (People Attempting To Help) are thinking about the education of East Texas school children for the coming school year.  Today PATH kicks off the annual School Supply Train by collecting desperately needed school supplies for school children of Smith County.

Throughout the month of June, Liberty Hall has been showing wedding themed movies and it continues this week with a showing of the classic "The Philadelphia Story" Thursday evening and "Cinderella" Saturday afternoon.

It's a rather strange crime that's left Kilgore business owners and police baffled.  Several faces have seen the culprits but can't describe the thieves to police, well because, they're mannequins!
