The girl who fell just short of being an ‘American Idol‘ last year returned to the ‘Idol’ stage tonight to show the nation what they missed out on — not to say that Lauren Alaina hasn’t been on her grind in the past year. She strutted her stuff in front of the judges while performing 2011′s hit ‘Georgia Peaches,’ and got a standing ovation.

It’s safe to say none of last season’s ‘American Idol‘ contestants are thankful for video cameras this year. Only hours after victor and pal Scotty McCreery got busted forgetting to really sing at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, runner up Lauren Alaina got busted forgetting the lyrics to the national anthem.

McCreery and Alaina continued their obfuscation during a recent appearance at the Google campus, dodging yet another volley from the ‘are they or aren’t they?’ camp when the subject came up as part of a series of questions about their feelings on Google’s new social network, Google+.

Sure, they’re technically still kids, but one can’t help but say “aww!” at the newly released baby photos of ‘American Idol’ stars Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

The photos, released by ‘American Idol’s’ website, show the season 10 winner and runner-up looking so-adorable-it-hurts as they pose for the cameras. In Scotty’s case, we see him with his older sister, while Lauren poses in a cute frilly dress and bow.
