Taylor Swift Still Not Confirmed to Play Joni Mitchell in Biopic
According to Taste of Country, Variety had implied that Swift’s role was a done deal, but the country star herself said she has not signed on the dotted line. Swift opened up about the potential gig in recent interview with Country Weekly.
âIâm not confirmed, actually,â the 22-year-old said. âYou never want to talk about something like that until it is a definite thing. I would love to tell that story. It would be amazing. It would be an interesting, fascinating, incredibly intelligent and wonderful character to play, but nothing is confirmed right now.â
The movie is based on Shelia Weller’s 2008 biography ‘Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon — And the Journey of a Generation.’ According to Variety, Allison Williams (âGirlsâ), Jessica Pare (âMad Menâ) and Analeigh Tipton (âCrazy, Stupid, Loveâ) are testing for the role of Simon, while Alison Pill (âThe Newsroomâ), Olivia Thirlby (âDredd 3Dâ), Ari Graynor (âFor a Good Time, Callâ) and Zoe Kazan (âRuby Sparksâ) are in consideration for the role of King.
‘Girls Like Us’ has yet to get the green light, so it makes sense that Swift has not been officially hired for the part. If she lands the part, this will be her first major dramatic role outside of her small part in ‘Valentine’s Day’ and animated voiceover in ‘The Lorax.’
