‘The Office’ Season 9 Casts Stephen Colbert For A Very “Trebling” Halloween Episode
Can you say “casting announcement of the year?” While ‘The Office‘ officially returns tonight for its ninth, and final season (please don’t remind us about ‘The Farm‘) it’s no secret that the upcoming year is bound to attract new and old guest stars alike, including some big names. Well, if we don’t yet know if Michael Scott will make the trek back to Dunder-Mifflin, how about Steve Carell’s one-time ‘Daily Show‘ co-star Stephen Colbert? A victory for America, it is.
Fantastic news, fans of ‘The Office,’ as Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that ‘The Colbert Report’ host and one-time ‘Daily Show’ fixture Stephen Colbert will be dropping by the ninth and final season of NBC’s ‘The Office,’ squarely in the show’s Halloween episode. Appearing in the October 25 outing, Colbert will portray the oft-mentioned “Broccoli Rob,” member of Andy Bernard (fellow ‘Daily Show’ vet Ed Helms)’s college a cappella group “Here Comes Treble.”
But what could bring Broccoli Rob to town, after all these years? Apparently, Andy discovers that his competitive onetime band-mate has been spinning a different history about the group so as to stir up drama, creating an even deeper divide between the two singing rivals.
Much of the recent ‘Office’ casting announcements have had to do with the Schrute clan being introduced in backdoor pilot episode “The Farm,” though tonight’s season premiere “Office Bullying” will also introduce two new stars for the show’s final season, Clark Duke and Jake Lacy.
Well, what say you? Do you think Stephen Colbert is the first in a long line of stars to make their way through ‘The Office’s final season? Will it all culminate with Steve Carell? Tell us your dream guest stars in the comments, and tune in for the season 9 premiere tonight at 9:00 p.m.!
