Sylvia Yacoub exposed a softer, more vulnerable side of herself during tonight’s live playoffs on ‘The Voice’ (Nov. 7). The singer performed Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ and took a risk that no other contestant on the episode chose to do – she accompanied herself on the piano.

Her delivery of the song earned her a standing ovation from the crowd as well as beaming smiles and palpable excitement from the judges. Her mother, from whom she received her passion and talent for music, was also cheering her on in the audience.

“You look like a princess…wonderful. Unbiased, that was probably my favorite performance of the night,” claimed Cee Lo Green. “You have an extraordinarily powerful voice,” Adam Levine commented. “I think we all want you to move forward.”

Her coach Christina Aguilera praised her ability to stand out against her competitors. “We seem to come from the same sort of place, and we connect, I think, on an emotional and vocal level … Right when we think we have you figured out, you come in with something else.”

Yacoub then left the stage crying tears of happiness and anticipation. “America, you have to vote for this girl, because she is amazing!” Aguilera exclaimed.
