The race for the November ballot and certain East Texas offices continues today with runoff elections because the results from the elections held earlier in May were just too close to declare a winner! Polls in Texas during the run-off election are open today (Tuesday, May 24th) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting during the runoff elections can be pretty confusing because Texas has an open primary, which means voters may cast votes in either the Democratic or Republican parties. During the runoff election, the voter must remain consistent and stick with the party they voted with during the first election. Unfortunately you can't switch party affiliation! If however, you did not vote in the first election you may still cast your vote and choose which party you'd like to be affiliated with and then cast your vote.

Some offices that are appearing on local ballots are:

  • State Senator
  • Texas House seats
  • Railroad Commissioner
  • State Board of Education
  • Constable offices
  • Judges for Court of Criminal Appeals

Your vote can still make a difference in these runoff elections. You have until 7 p.m. today to cast you vote. There are many polling locations scattered throughout East Texas where you can cast your ballot. Make a difference and vote!
