The National Weather Service had a crew in the Malakoff and Trinidad areas Thursday surveying damage from Tuesday's storms and confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down.

Pat Isaacson, owner of the Malakoff Historical Society and Museum, told KLTV "I was shocked. I knew it was bad but, I didn’t think it was that bad.”

National Weather Service Meteorologist Mark Fox was in charge of surveying. He said, "“It does sound like there was some circulation here, so whether this was just kind of the skipping tornado that’s been here for three miles or so is probably the best explanation. You’ve got this tree that is kind of going one way and most of the squall line was coming up from the southwest to the northeast, but we definitely have a tree that was blown back the other way."

Fox was not positive that the damage in Malakoff was caused by the same tornado in Trinidad. “We can take a look at that, plop them into the radar, and we can see if there was any distinct circulation, something that seems different and see what else comes out," Fox explained.
