Are Tylerites among the happiest people in the United States? According to a new project, Tyler is one of the happiest cities in America.

Harvard professor Edward Glaeser, Vancouver School of Economics professor Joshua Gottlieb and Harvard doctoral student Oren Ziv used data from a survey with Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, and then adjusted it for age, sex, race, income and other factors to find the happiest cities in America.

The top five happiest cities are all from our neighbors to the east in Louisiana, with Lafayette named the happiest city in America (and thus, Louisiana named the happiest state).

Overall, Tyler is ranked 15th on the list, and is the second-happiest city in Texas behind Corpus Christi. Galveston, Lubbock and San Angelo are also listed among the happiest cities in Texas.

As for least happiest, that honor goes to the Big Apple, ranking dead last in happiness behind St. Joseph, Mo., and South Bend, Ind., the home of University of Notre Dame.

What do you say, Tyler folks? Do you think you're among the happiest in America?
