The Tyler Parks and Recreation Outdoor Education series is hosting an event that will teach participants what to do if they ever become lost in a forest.

On Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tyler State Park, 789 Park Rd. 16, participants are invited to learn how to keep from getting lost by utilizing a map and compass through navigation demonstrations. The group will also learn how to build a survival campfire and prepare a meal by cooking with a Dutch oven.

The cost is free and ages youth and up are welcome. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, bring water and be prepared for a mile hike through the forest.
