One person is in custody on a drug possession charge after Tyler police busted what appears to be a mobile meth lab.

Officers observed two people exiting a wooded area in the one thousand block of Forest near Garden Valley. The pair then entered a parked vehicle where a third person was inside the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed numerous items of drug paraphernalia as well as numerous bottles of chemicals and laboratory equipment. Several of the bottles contained liquids of unknown origin.

The Tyler Fire Department Hazmat unit responded to the scene. It was determined that the chemicals were not explosive and were separated to avoid possible chemical reactions.

The three subjects were brought to the Tyler Police Department where they were questioned by Detectives. Two of the subjects were released. The other subject was booked into the Smith County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance. The names of the subjects and the specifics of the case are not being released at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
