Last week the Tyler City Council approved a measure adopt a new master plan for Bergfeld Park in Tyler. The new master plan for the park calls for improvements in five areas of the park:

  • playground
  • tennis courts
  • amphitheater
  • splash area
  • landscaping

The five details areas are going to enhance the public's experience while at the park. Once finalized, Bergfeld Park will feature new playground equipment, renovated tennis courts, some of the fixed bleacher seats within the amphitheater will be removed to create a grass picnic area along with safety improvements for the splash area at the park.

The five areas of improvement plans are complete and will be completed in stages, as funding becomes available. This was a partnership between Bergfeld Park residents and business owners who approached Tyler Parks and Recreation because they wanted to sponsor a new master plan for the park. The group raised money and contacted a design/planning company to create a new vision for the park.

There were many successful meetings held since March of 2013, including one at Bergfeld Parks' Amphitheater that attracted more than 60 residents from the surrounding neighborhood who all agreed upon the budget. After approval from the City of Tyler Park Board it was passed on to the City Council where the plan was approved.

Construction costs for the parks' improvement could come from various public and private partnerships.
