Ultra Music Festival 2013: Swedish House Mafia to Perform for Last Time

We've been hearing since June that global EDM superstars Swedish House Mafia are breaking up, but they've continued to perform live with regularity since then, leading us to wonder whether this was a Celine Dion-style non-retirement. Now the DJ trio has finally set a date for its final performance together: March 24, during a headlining set at the Ultra Music Festival.

The annual electronic music fest in Miami is expanding to two full weekends in 2013, with shows scheduled for the weekends of March 15-17 and March 22-24. Swedish House Mafia will bookend the event with a concert on opening night, March 15, and another to close the fest on the 24th. It's a fitting conclusion for the group, whose debut American performance came at Ultra 2010.

"Ultra was the first place we really built a show for a main stage,” the group said in a press release. "We filmed the whole thing and we played ‘One’ for the first time on that stage. It was a moment we would never forget and became the closing scene in our film, ‘Take One.’ The energy of the crowd was unbelievable and the fact that it's part of Miami Music Week where so much new music is born made it even more special. It just felt right that we finished where so much was started and we're honored to open and close the festival."

Swedish House Mafia's most recent album, 'Until Now,' debuted at No. 14 in the U.S. in October. Several tracks from the record made it to the upper reaches of Billboard's Dance Chart, including 'Greyhound,' a fierce instrumental track that became noteworthy for its dog racing-themed music video and associated Absolut vodka commercial.
