Victoria Beckham May Hold Up Spice Girls Documentary
If you’re nostalgic for the ’90s, you’re not alone. Spice Girls fans have been begging for a reunion pretty much forever, and now they may finally get their wish in the form of a documentary — but only if Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham, cooperates.
The Mirror reports that television execs are dying to put together a “warts and all” documentary on the girl-power five-piece. A source (who sounds suspiciously like a publicist) told the tab, “With worldwide sales of over 75 million, they defined a generation, but their full story has never been told. Producers want to spend time getting to know each of the girls and let viewers feel they’ve got the real insight into their lives.”
The decision isn’t a spontaneous one, either, but a savvy business move: a Spice Girls musical, titled ‘Viva Forever,’ is set to premiere in London’s West End this December. The film would be a 90-minute feature and would have interviews with each of the Spice Girls: Geri “Ginger Spice” Haliwell, Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton and, they hope, Beckham.
However, the film won’t move forward without Posh’s participation in the interview process and the outlook is pretty bleak. Posh has already nixed other reunion plans, including one for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. If Queen Elizabeth can’t make something happen, who can?!
To be fair, Beckham is likely the most relevant and busiest of the Spice Girls since the group dissolved. She gave birth to daughter Harper in August 2011 and is mom to sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz — and she raked in a whopping $15 million for her fashion line in just one year.
