The magic of Christmas is upon us, and just when you need to escape the madness of traffic, commercialism and the hustle and bustle that is our current state, we're here to help.

In East Texas, OnlyinYourState.com has identified four towns that will have you feeling as if you've stepped into a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Jefferson

Jefferson is home to the Candlelight Tour of Homes, where you're invited to stroll through historic, Victorian-style houses that have been decorated for the holiday season. Afterwards, take a walk through over 100 lighted trees adorned with ornaments, known as the Enchanted Forest.

Palestine

Home of the Polar Express train, Palestine even more holiday festivities to offer visitors. Ice skating, home tours, farmers markets, craft shows, wine tastings, and caroling all add to the spirit of Christmas.

Nacogdoches

Did you know Nacogdoches is the oldest town in Texas? The host an annual Nine Flags Festival which continues through the end of December each year. Celebrations include live music, food and drink and live music.

Marshall

Growing up my grandmother lived in Marshall, and each year we would drive through downtown to see the Harrison County Courthouse covered in lights. Now, there is more to experience with carriage rides, a huge ice-skating rink, Santa's Village, and even an old-fashioned carousel.
