There's always one side dish at the Thanksgiving dinner that doesn't belong!

Thanksgivings at my grandparents house were always a big deal. It's the one time a year that our family and extended family would come together and catch up and fellowship, just like many others around East Texas, and have one big feast while giving thanks. A big Thanksgiving dinner was always a part of this annual family gathering.

My grandfather would bake the turkey, my grandmother would always make the dressing, my mom would make green bean casserole, my cousin would bring the baked sweet potatoes and there was always some kind of salad in addition to the other vegetables, bread and countless number of desserts! Once the meal was blessed the feasting began and went on an on for hours as the Dallas Cowboys game came on TV!

Thinking back, there always seemed to be one side dish or a salad of some kind that had been barely touched (or sometimes not at all) that was left on the table in hopes of somebody eating it! As I was reflecting upon this, that lead me to the question, 'what side dish was always left over on your Thanksgiving dinner table?'

After asking around the office, my co-workers answered the question with these responses:

  • canned cranberry sauce
  • Waldorf salad
  • hot jalapeno corn dip
  • sweet potatoes with marshmallows
  • green bean casserole
  • fresh cranberry sauce
  • fruit salad

So, let me ask you, 'What side dish does not belong on your Thanksgiving table?
