There will be plenty to do this Memorial Day weekend in the East Texas area. There will too many pool parties and BBQs to count. Why not do something a little bit different this Memorial Day? Try one of these Memorial Day events.

Want a little music?

You could head to Stanley’s BBQ Friday for some great music, a full bar, and some of Texas’ best BBQ. The Effinays, from Dallas, and Tyler’s very own Stefan Cotter and the C-Otters will be playing starting at nine that evening. Check out their Facebook page for more info.

Also, the Coffin Shop in downtown Tyler will be having its last show until the Fall brings cooler weather. Just off the square, the Coffin Shop will be giving a showcase of some of Tyler’s best local bands. Blanket M, The Rest, and The Beer Munkees will start the show at 8 p.m. Check out the Coffin Shop Facebook for more.

Looking for a little bit more than just music?

Try the Party in the Pines. The 8th annual Party in the Pines will be going on from May 24 through the 26. They will have lots to do including; a bike rodeo, the Texas Burn Out Challenge, a tattoo contest, music, and plenty of games in an annual event to honor our veterans. Check out their website for information and how to register to come.

Want to do something a little more serious to celebrate Memorial Day right?

With a fallen warrior ceremony procession, a veterans honor table, the “Armed Forces Medley,” the Adorning of the Wreath, and a rifle salute. The cemetery is located near Gresham at 2003 Blue Mountain Blvd. Speakers will be Mayor Barbara Bass, retired Lt. Col. John Davis, and Matt Schaefer, a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve.
