Who is the Better Actor, Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt?

There is a long running debate among my circle friends as to who is the better actor, Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt. This debate has been going on now for a few years. Each actor has great films to their credit and each has some that are not so great, Depp's recent example being The Lone Ranger. Brad Pitt's recent success includes his latest film World War Z.

I like both actors a lot, but I haven't seen either film that they have released this summer. I could make an argument for either and see both sides of the argument. Among my circle though, there are deep rooted feelings as to who is the superior actor. I want to know what you think.
