Perhaps your neighbors have flags flying on the front of their house right now. Mine do. I've noticed the flags flying at some East Texas businesses that don't normally have them out too.

With Veterans Day on Sunday several events are being held today at area high schools, including programs at Kilgore ISD, Hallsville ISD, Pine Tree ISD, and Spring Hill ISD. Schools are having programs, and in some cases incorporating the ceremonies into high school football games tonight. What else is happening?

Lucky Larry posted news yesterday about Saturday night's Honor America event in Longview at Lobo Stadium. The high school band will perform there, and there will be a chili cookoff. Yum!

Gladewater gets involved in the Veterans Day celebrations too with Operation Give Gratitude Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Gladewater Rodeo grounds. It sounds like guys, gals, kids, and families will all find something to do. Gates open at 3 p.m. with the car show. Bands start performing at 3:30 p.m. A motorcycle parade and cook-off start at 4 p.m., and then the auction and raffles start at 6 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children.

Since Veterans Day, 11/11, is on a Sunday this year, the post office will recognize the holiday on Monday. So there's no mail that day.

Thanks Veterans, for your service!

Have a great weekend!
