3 East Texas Students Arrested for Making Online Threats to Junior High

It's not a joke. It's not funny. And, as are police department across the US, Carthage PD is taking online threats -- especially against schools -- serious. Three Carthage Junior High School students were arrested after making threats against the school on social media over the weekend.

According to East Texas Matters, the young men, whose identities will not be released because they are under 18 years of,age are charged with making a terroristic threat and are being held in the Willoughby Juvenile Detention Center in Marshall.

"The people that made--the boys that made those threats were arrested by the Carthage Police Department," Hambrick said, adding that they were taken to the Willoughby Detention Center in Marshall. "So that's been taken care of."

Carthage Police Chief Jim Vanover said in a press release that a Carthage ISD administrator contacted him around 8:30 a.m. Saturday after three students posted threats against the school for Monday on social media on Friday.
