Summer is officially upon us, and people are looking for more and more ways to get outdoors. Since we don't have beaches here in East Texas, lakes are a very popular place for locals to get outdoors. If you're looking to get out to the lake for some sun, swimming, fishing, boating, or anything else but don't know where to start, start here. Here are some essential things you need to have for a successful day at the lake:

    Sunscreen

    Sunscreen is one of the top two most important things to take with you to the lake. Spray or rub a little on when you first get there and then every few hours to protect from sunburn. We all know how much sunburn sucks, so lets just avoid it!

    The very last thing you want to do at the lake is get dehydrated. You need to make sure and have a TON of water on hand to keep cool and stay hydrated. Dehydration is not fun.

    All that swimming, running, jumping, and playing will sure wear you and everyone else out. You need some good snacks to keep everyone happy and bodies healthy. Food, along with water, is necessary to keep you from dehydrating.

    Life-vests the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones from drowning or having any incident in the water. Not only that, but if you put them on upside down like a diaper, they make a fantastic floating device.

    Music

    What's a party without some tunes? You've got to have some music in the background to just get the party going. Whether its a mixed CD, or just listening to a friend strum a guitar, music gets the party going.
