The rumors regarding a possible movie about Amy Winehouse‘s life seem to change daily. Amy’s dad Mitch is responding to some of the misinformation, saying that a biopic about his daughter’s life is still a possibility, but that he never claimed that he wants Lady Gaga to play Amy.

Contradicting reports that Mitch would never permit a Winehouse movie to move forward have surfaced. Now, a Winehouse family spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly, “Mitch and the family would entertain ideas perhaps for a film but only one they were sure would tell the truth.” It sounds like the family wants a large measure of creative control for any film project, and that’s understandable given how they are working to protect Amy’s legacy.

Mitch took to Twitter to say that the recent comments attributed to him about Gaga playing Winehouse in the movie are totally false. “I never said Lady Gaga will play Amy in film. Also Amy’s room not a shrine. Wot a load of rubbish,” he wrote.

Winehouse’s posthumous album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures,’ just debuted at No. 5 in the U.S. in its first week of release. Her duet with Tony Bennett, ‘Body and Soul,’ is a 2012 Grammy nominee for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
