Ariana Grande’s ‘thank u, next’ Video Breaks 24 Hour Viewing Record’
Ariana Grande is crushing viewing records with the video for her new single, "thank u, next."
The highly anticipated music video, released Friday, is on track to break the Vevo 24-hour view count record with more than 50 million views in a single day. Arianators waited days for the video, which Grande, 25, had been teasing on Twitter.
"It's with great pleasure that we announce that Ariana Grande's 'thank u, next' has broken the Vevo 24 hour view-count record," JP Evangelista, Vevo's Head of Content, Programing and Marketing said in a statement.
"This video continues a string of immensely creative visual work that Ariana has released on our platform this year. Each video has been meticulously crafted and has had a brilliant lead up campaign. Ariana and Hannah Lux Davis' entertaining work now joins the ranks of some of our most successful videos of all time. We congratulate Ariana and the Republic family on this massive success."
She finally put it out at 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 and it was all anyone could talk about. The "thank u, next" video, inspired by popular films like Mean Girls, Clueless, Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30, featured cameos from Jonathan Bennett, Kris Jenner, Troye Sivan, Colleen Ballinger, Daniella Monet, Elizabeth Gilles and Stefanie Drummond.
Grande celebrated setting a new Vevo record on Twitter, writing that the accomplishment was "wild."
"p.s. we set a new @vevo record. that's wild. i love u. thank u," the singer tweeted.
