Our days of mourning Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds are far from ended, but the first trailer for their mutual HBO documentary Bright Lights will uplift as much as upend your day. See for yourself, as Fisher looks back on her mother’s storied Hollywood career, as much as her own struggle with depression.

Having moved up the debut of Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds to this weekend in memoriam for the pair, HBO now released a first official trailer. The documentary previously debuted to acclaim at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and others, while HBO will air Bright Lights on Saturday, January 7 at 8:00 P.M., with a full synopsis reading:

The story of a family’s complicated love, this documentary is an intimate portrait of Hollywood royalty in all its eccentricity. Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, live in the same Beverly Hills compound. The 83-year-old grand dame still has a Las Vegas act, but performing is taking its toll. Carrie’s response is both hilarious and heart-rending. Featuring vintage family films that bring iconic old-world Hollywood to life, as well as extensive vérité footage, the film is directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens.

Fisher suffered a heart attack two weeks ago, remaining in reportedly stable condition until her death on Tuesday, December 27. Mother Debbie Reynolds suffered a fatal stroke just one day later, while the pair are set to be buried together later this week.

Painful as it is, there may be no better way to celebrate the iconic relationship between the pair over the years, so check out Bright Lights for yourself this weekend, and grab some tissues.
