There are cooking shows, there are competition cooking shows, there are networks devoted to cooking shows and now ABC is getting into the game with a new series that debuts tonight.  Time Machine Chefs will separate itself from other cooking shows by not giving the chefs the conveniences of modern kitchens.

The chefs will not have access to refrigerators, ovens, stove tops, mixers, running water, electricity and they'll have to prepare the meal with the utensils of the era they are cooking in.  In addition the chefs will be preparing meals with bizarre foods and will be competing for the title of "The Greatest Chef in History".

The chefs will be cooking in the time of the Ming Dynasty, which ruled China from 1368 to 1644 A.D. and then they'll prepare meals from England's Tudor era, which was around 1416 A.D.

The celebrity chefs will be transported to these eras by a time machine that mimics a giant refrigerator.  Contestants on the show include Art Smith and Chris Cosentino from Top Chef Masters, Ilan Hall a Top Chef winner and from Next Iron Chef, Jill Davie.

Look for Time Machine Chef to air tonight at 8p on KLTV 7.
