HENDERSON CO. – A Henderson County Man on the run from Law Enforcement for almost ten years is now in custody after he was arrested in Monroe County Arkansas.

Travis Wayne Jones, 51, who was wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child, was captured Monday after a tip came into Henderson County Authorities that the fugitive was spotted in Arkansas. Jones tried to run from law enforcement after he was asked to show identification. He was quickly captured by U.S. Marshals and taken into custody.

Since August 2002, Jones has eluded Law Enforcement after he failed to show up for a court appearance on an indecency with a child charge. Jones was also indicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child and an additional arrest warrant was issued.

Jones was placed on the Top Ten Fugitives list and profiled on America’s Most Wanted. Over the last four years, numerous tips came into officers advising them that Jones had been spotted in several states across the country.

Henderson County Sheriff Deputy Bill Valentine and the U.S Marshal’s office are being credited for the capture of Jones.

Jones is awaiting extradition to Henderson County.
