Elijah's Retreat was founded in 2007 by Jeff and Kathie Moore on the 50 acre Divine Acres Ranch. The name is inspired by one of their grandchildren, Elijah, who is autistic.

The retreat provides many outdoor activities including fishing, petting zoo, playground and more. It also includes three cabins that the families can stay in.

But, after the passing of Kathie Moore, it has become difficult for Jeff Moore to keep Elijah's Retreat open. It is said that Moore has "has spent at least $300,000" of his own money to operate the retreat according to the Jacksonville Progress.

Owner of Hwy 69 Trading Post in Jacksonville, Billy Bateman, has stepped in and is doing what he can to raise the money necessary for Elijah's Retreat.

There is a Go Fund Me account set up at gofundme.com/elijahsretreat. The hope is to raise $57,800, approximately the amount to keep Elijah's Retreat open for one year.

There will also be an auction on Tuesday, October 11, at People's Church on Highway 79 East in Jacksonville.

If you need more details on how to help with fundraising efforts, call Billy Bateman at 903-284-1710.
