After her parents nipped her horse-owning dreams in the bud, German-based Regina Mayer didn't give up.

Instead of begging and pleading as most young ones do, she decided to take matters into her own hand by training Luna, one of the family's cows.

Mayer spent hours with the brown-and-white cow, teaching it how to run, jump hurdles and respond to commands like "go," "stand" and "gallop." The massive cow can even be ridden with a saddle.

Now, says the 15-year-old cow whisperer/trainer, Luna "thinks she's a horse." The two continue to spend their afternoons together riding, grooming and simply hanging out.
