‘Glee’ Hopes to Recruit Pitbull as Santana’s Brother
The ‘Glee‘ casting rumor mill continues to spin, with the latest report indicating that producers are attempting to woo of-the-moment rapper Pitbull to play Santana’s brother. Even though creator Ryan Murphy was adamant that he would avoid the A-list guest stars in the third season, those plans seem to have fallen by the wayside.
According to EW, the powers-that-be really want to cast Pit as the big bro. The show was a runaway hit for the first two two years on air, but ratings have sagged this season. A guest like Pitbull might provide a necessary shot in the arm for the show, since he is such a hot commodity on the pop music scene. It would give new meaning to the term “creative casting,” that’s for sure.
If you’ve been watching, Santana’s story arc has been kicked up a notch on Season 3. The cheerleader came out to her beloved grandmother, who had just made her a table full of food. However, Santana did not get the reaction she has been hoping for upon revealing that she loved girls. Her grandmother promptly asked her to leave and said she never wanted to see her again, without so much as a hint of emotion or sadness. It was heartbreaking.
This news follows the recent revelation that singer Gloria Estefan would be playing Santana’s mom in an upcoming episode. Santana, played by Naya Rivera, Pit and Glo would perform a familial musical number that can’t be missed … If indeed Pit gets a guest gig on the show.
