Here’s Why You Probably Won’t Get $125 From Equifax

I know you're excited about the cash owed you from the $700 million plus settlement over the Equifax data breach of 2017.  Maybe you felt lucky to get anything for being one of the 147 million Americans who had their very private, and very exploitable personal information exposed to identity thieves - even if it was just $125.

I wouldn't make a reservation at 2 Johns just yet, because it may be a whole lot less than you thought.  According to The Verge, the $125 amount suggested by the settlement eligibility website is based on 248,000 people claiming it.  If .68% off those affect by the breach and subsequent settlement claim their money, everyone gets about $31.  If every one affected wants theirs, that number drops to just 21 cents.
