You will be more capable of protecting yourself in Texas as Governor Gregg Abbott signed House Bill 446 "Self Defense Bill" which will make it legal for Texans to carry self defense items.

According to ABC News, the new bill will no longer consider knuckles as a prohibited weapon.

The House Research Organization further spoke on the new bill,

It is an offense to intentionally or knowingly possess, manufacture, transport, repair or sell certain items, including knuckles. Illegally possessing knuckles is a class A misdemeanor and can serve up to one year in jail along with a fine of $4,000.

Outside of brass knuckles you will also be able to carry clubs, and kat key chains which are also called kitty key chains.

Supporters of the bill also noted that Texans who carry knuckles as a novelty key chain shouldn't face jail time for having a self defense tool that is legitimate.

The new bill takes effect September 1st.

Speaking of brass knuckles, I am always reminded of this classic scene from the 1987 movie Three O' Clock High.
