Texas Supernatural: The Voodoo Ghost Of Stagecoach Road
It's the perfect time of year for the kind of story I have to tell..
It doesn't seem to be one of the more "known" ghost stories about Texas, and it's kind of hard to wonder why. It has all the elements of a classic ghost story. The location is still as creepy as it can be. Most of all, the name itself call up a time long ago which puts you on edge from the start. This is the story of Stagecoach Road in Marshall, Texas.
The backbone of the story is that a Voodoo Priestess, who was run out of New Orleans, moved to Marshall Texas. Things didn't get better for her there, because she was supposedly killed by the local priest. She is now said to haunt Stagecoach Road by the light of the full moon. It's also claimed that she does this while carrying shrunken heads and voodoo dolls.
That "Voodoo Priestess" story is only one of the stories about Stagecoach Road. There are also stories about ghostly stagecoaches, mysteries lights, and weird sounds. There is also a story about a child's handprint appearing on a vehicle. The area no doubt lends itself to this kind of thing with an old dirt road sandwiched between tall, weird trees.
Are you convinced yet? In getting a Google Maps pic of the area, I got a "What the hell is that" type thing in the photos (upper right). Is it a bat in front of the camera? Could it possibly be some type of manifestation? All I know is, it's more weird laid on top of a story about a very weird, very spooky place.
