Jason Mraz kicked off his Tour Is A Four Letter Word tour last Friday in New Orleans and his second stop was in Dallas on Saturday at the Gexa Energy Pavilion. Mix 93-1 has exclusive pics from his sound check as he and Christina Perri were preparing for the show.

Mix VIP members Mallory Sutton from Whitehouse and Heba Jundi along with my wife and I, were among the select few to experience this intimate event. We were escorted into the closed venue where Jason and his band were sitting on the left side of the stage singing a hidden track from his latest album Love Is A Four Letter Word. When he completed the song he told us, "Shh! That's a hidden track song from my album and you didn't hear me perform it."

Then everything moved to center stage. Jason began testing his mic and talking to the band while eating from a bowl of mandarin oranges and drinking from a bottle of what looked to be olive oil!

Next he brought Christina Perri out where they talked about her duet and where they would be on stage when she came out and they then broke into her song "Distance". Hearing that song live gave me goose bumps! They sounded amazing.

Then after a little break and humor from Jason, he was talking with the band and wrote down the words to his song "I Won't Give Up" and placed them on the floor where Christina and her band would serve as additional back up singers on the song in practice.  While he was writing the lyrics down he flicked a couple of those mandarin oranges at his drummer for fun!  He then performs "I Won't Give Up" followed by another song by Richard Marx.

The whole event was around 45 minutes long and was a cool insight into what happens before the crowds arrive and fill the venue. He and Christina went on later that evening and put on one fantastic show.
