Mariah Carey Joins ‘American Idol’ as Newest Judge
It has been speculated for a few weeks, but now it's official: pop diva Mariah Carey is the newest judge on American Idol.
TMZ is reporting the 42-year-old star will be one of the at least two new judges on FOX's biggest money-maker. Carey is reportedly raking in $12 million for her first year, the same amount Jennifer Lopez made on the show.
There has yet to be a name to replace Steven Tyler, and it is still unclear whether Randy Jackson will remain on the show as a judge. TMZ speculates Adam Lambert and Miley Cyrus are among the names being thrown out as replacements.
Carey, appeared on the show as a mentor in Season 7, is also being labeled as a "nightmare" from her short time on the show on TMZ. TMZ is quoting sources who say Carey was extremely difficult to work with, although time will certainly tell.
