Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is skilled on the football field and now he is showing off his skills on carpentry.

From KCTV, the East Texas native is helping homeless veterans by building tiny homes through the Veterans Community Project.

Mahomes and other players from the Chiefs will be at 89th Street and Troost Avenue this afternoon (Oct. 30) to assist with construction.

The Veterans Community Project already has 13 tiny homes built, but the ultimate goal is to have another 13 built by November 8.

U.S. Army veteran Marvin Gregory was excited to be one of the first to move into the tiny new home:

It's a life-changing thing for me.  I've lived pretty hard for some years now. I have hope, they’ve given me hope.

Each home they build is 240 square feet and is connected to city sewer, water and electric services.

The residents can stay there until they are able make it on their own.
