Students from the University of Texas at Tyler will host an adoption event dedicated to the City of Tyler Animal Shelter on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tyler Public Library located at 201 S. College Ave.

“We are very excited to be considered for UT Tyler’s event and giving our animals a chance to get adopted,” stated Access Librarian Connie Greer.

During the event, dogs from the Tyler Animal Shelter will be available for adoption. Some will be ready to take home the day of the event while others will be ready after 24 hours to enable the pet to be spayed or neutered prior to going to their new home.

Additional dogs will be available for adoption from partnering animal advocacy groups. Please note that each advocacy group may have their own adoption processes applicable for the animals they provide at the event.

Tyler Fire and Police Department personnel will be present to enhance the experience of the “Rescue Me!” event. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with firefighters and officers and have their pictures taken at a photo booth. Scruff McGruff will make an appearance and will be available for pictures as well. There will be other activities for the children including face painting.

All animals that are available for adoption from the City of Tyler’s Animal Shelter may be found on their Facebook page or by going to
