Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for northwestern Cherokee County, southern Smith County, southeastern Henderson County and northern Anderson County.

The warnings for Smith and Cherokee counties are until 4:45 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. for Henderson and Anderson counties.

The National Weather Service says these storms, which are moving south-southeast, are capable of producing 60-plus mph winds and quarter-sized hail. Cloud-to-ground lightning also has been spotted.

Residents in south Tyler, Whitehouse, Bullard, Troup and Arp are being asked to exercise extra caution.
