If you've got a big meeting coming up and you're suddenly hit with a hunger pang, there's one superfood to eat that will get you through.  And you can eat it with a chip.

If you love chips and guacamole, you're going to love this news.

Avocados are not only good for us as we've been hearing for years but they're an appetite suppressant too, that can keep our stomachs from growling all afternoon. The fat in avocados can take six hours or so to digest, so some guacamole at lunch is supposed to keep us from being hungry til it's time for happy hour appetizers and more guac.

This can be kind of a sad scenario too because sometimes it's fun to snack at work and just when we're about to reach for the 3 PM pretzels we realize, "dang it, I'm full."   We ruined the snacking opportunity with that delicious avocado fat.  On the bright side, a spoon full of avocado with a little salt right before a big meeting can keep our stomachs from growling all the way through.  That avocado slicer in the desk drawer comes in handy after all.

Officially, a new study says avocados "can significantly suppress hunger and up meal satisfaction, in people who are dieting."  And researchers studied overweight adults, and, "When their meals included avocados in place of refined carbohydrates, they felt satiated for up to six hours."

The health benefits of avocado could potentially be sideswiped by too many chips, but that seems like a small price to pay in the grand scheme.  And how great are avocados in sushi and spring rolls?  Or right out of the skin minus the pit with a little salt.

Now, if only we could figure out a way to get avocados in the vending machine in the break room, we'd be all set.
