It appears as if this weekend is going to be a perfect weekend weather wise to enjoy an outdoor festival in East Texas! There's no shortage of festivals this weekend, there are events celebrating the yam, the hot pepper and feral hog! Find your niche and enjoy it this weekend...

Fair season is here. The Gregg Co. Fair kicks off tomorrow, The East Texas Fair is right behind it, and before you know it, the State Fair of Texas will be in full swing. I'll be hanging out at the fairgrounds from 4-6, Saturday in Longview, and will be surrounded by the tantilizing smells of "fair food."

I think the hot dog was the first thing that was battered in corn meal, deep fried and offered up at the fair.  For as long as I can remember, I've always had a corn dog at the fair, but now the deep fried menu has expanded greatly and offers up quite a few tasty treats for fair goers every year.

Just about everyone looks forward to a great East Texas fall and I if I were a bettin' man, I would say WE ALL are looking forward to it, mainly for the cooler weather.  The 100* temps we've been experiencing for the last couple of months will hopefully be a distant memory and we'll be having fun at all the fairs and festivals that will be coming to East Texas.  We'll be having f...
