Born in Longview, a Gilmer 10-month-old infant fights for his life with every breath he takes at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Baby Carter was born premature a full twelve weeks early and shortly after birth developed an inguinal hernia which required an operation in the NICU because he was just too unstable to transfer to a operating room.
Carter's mom, Brittney Heard, says her son has already met many challenges in life and has undergone several surgeries, blood transfusions and has contracted pneumonia and a bone infection among other things.
KLTV 7's Summer Dashe spoke with the Carter's mom about a video she posted on a support page for baby Carter than has since gone viral.
