Texas Councilman Accused of Running Drug Operation from Tire Shop
You would think that people in Texas would understand by now that if you commit crimes in the Lone Star State you will be facing the consequences.
According to My San Antonio, there was a City Councilman in South Texas that was accused of selling cocaine out of a business he owned.
3 People Arrested in Total
Law enforcement in the Rio Grande Valley are saying that Sullivan City councilmember Ruben Villalon along with Jose Alonso Galaviz were arrested for their involvement in the manufacturing and delivery of narcotics. A third individual Ricardo Rodriguez was arrested for possession of marijuana and aggravated assault.
There was a long-term narcotics investigation that was on-going, and on January 31st a search warrant was executed at two locations.
Undercover Narcotics Investigator Used
Law enforcement was doing surveillance of Ruben’s Tire Shop in August when an undercover investigator purchased $10 worth of cocaine (weighing 0.4 grams), making the purchase from Galaviz.
The same informant made another purchase from Galaviz later that same month.
Texas City Councilman Got Involved Selling Drugs
In October the informant went back to the tire shop and made a $20 purchase from Villalon.
There was another drug purchase made from the councilman in November.
When the search warrants were executed, there were 13 baggies of cocaine found at the tire shop. With additional cocaine found at Villalon’s home, a total of 5.65 grams were seized.
Villalon was booked into jail by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office on a $100,000 bond, he was released the day after being booked into jail.
Both Galaviz and Rodriguez are still in police custody.
