A Texas man turned himself into authorities after being caught on camera abandoning a dog at a dump site in south Dallas.

From My San Antonio, surveillance cameras installed by the Dallas Marshall's Office captured a man letting a one-year-old dog out of the car and driving away on September 11.  After the video was released earlier this week, George Spears turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Spears admitted to dumping the dog stating that his sister wanted to get rid of the dog because she couldn’t control her.  Maura Davies, Vice President of Communications for SPCA of Texas said in a statement:

It broke our hearts to see what happened to sweet little Claira-Belle, She has found a new and loving home where she can live out the rest of her life.

If convicted Spears could be fined up to $4,000 and face up to a year in prison.
