Red Raiders freshman Hollis Daniels of Seguin, 19, had been brought in for questioning Monday evening after drugs & related paraphernalia were discovered in his dorm room.  While being interviewed, Daniels allegedly pulled a gun & shot a TTU officer in the head, killing him.

Our sister NewsTalk station in Lubbock, KFYO, reports that Daniels then escaped & fled on foot back through the Texas Tech campus, triggering a lockdown.  Another University cop gave chase within seconds of the shooting & eventually apprehended the suspect in the parking area outside Jones AT&T Stadium.  Law enforcement officials now confirm they've recovered the murder weapon, as well as the deceased policeman's body camera, which the shooter had taken off his victim before running away from the crime scene.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement shortly after tonight's tragic events. With Daniels back in police custody, Texas Tech has lifted the lockdown & announced that classes will resume Tuesday morning.
