Love is in the air, but can your wallet handle the pressure?

With less than a week until Valentine’s Day, while you are finding the perfect gift for your sweetie men are spending more to meet their partner’s expectations.

According to a survey from Bankrate, men on Valentine’s Day will spend an average of $339 on their Valentine this year, while women will spend just $64!  Yep, you read that correctly.

All is not lost fellas as women also mentioned they only expect their partner to spend an average of $154 on their gifts, while the men wish their partner would rather spend an average of $211.

Younger millennials have the highest expectations on Valentine’s Day as 15 percent of respondents are expecting to spend nearly $500 or more on their partners while 18 percent are expecting their partners to spend $200 to $500.

Experts aren't sure what causes this big difference between the sexes, but suspect it might be due to societal views of masculinity as well as wage differences between women and men.

Nevertheless, are Valentine’s Day is one of the most expensive days of the year I am always reminded of giving from the heart which should always matter.
