We are so lucky to have dogs, they wait for us all day long just so they can show us unconditional love when we are spending time with them. Dogs truly make life better, but as we all know there is a serious pet overpopulation issue here in East Texas. Which is one reason why the Smith County Animal Control and Shelter has decided once again to waive all adoption fees for the month of October.

They posted the details on their Facebook page as they are trying to get as many dogs adopted as possible. There are so many fantastic animals just waiting to be loved and have a family that they can be comfortable with forever.

No Fees But Asking for Donations

The Smith County Animal Control and Shelter is waiving adoption fees but they are requesting donations of an unopened bag of dog food (35lbs or bigger) or a new doghouse. The doghouses will go to dogs that don’t have adequate shelter and the dog food will go to those dealing with temporary hardship. The shelter knows that sometimes people struggle and they want to help those pet owners in those times instead of having the owner surrender their pet.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
