An East Texas Principal Has Died
Nacodoches graduates who have settled in the Tyler area are sad to learn about the death of a former principal.
The Principal at Brooks Quinn Jones Elementary in Nacogdoches has died after a battle with a long illness.
Rachel Johnson had been with Nacogdoches ISD for 16 years, and in her career, also worked for NISD’s Carpenter Elementary. Johnson’s first role with the Nacogdoches school district came in 1992 as an at-risk 8th grade teacher at Thomas J. Rusk Middle School.
Johnson was 49 years old, and is survived by a husband and two children.
A press release from the district says NISD is offering counseling to Brooks Quinn Jones students and staff.
Johnson received both a Bachelors and Masters degree from Stephen F. Austin.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Cason-Monk Funeral Home at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches. The funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church at 411 North Street in Nacogdoches.
