2013's big summer Pixar movie is 'Monsters University,' the prequel to their hit 'Monsters Inc.,' and a film that we're a little nervous about. Some Pixar sequels are good ('Toy Story 2' and '3' come to mind), but then there's 'Cars 2.' But a new featurette gives us a little more information about the plot, and yeah, it sounds a little bit like 'Revenge of the Nerds.'
Though Sunday is the big day for watching movie TV spots with the Super Bowl, we're already getting some of those big money ads now. 'World War Z' is one of the first to release their commercial, and it does a good job of conveying what the film is about.
Though 'Brave' was a welcome respite, Pixar has gone sequel crazy, as their previous two films were sequels and this summer we're getting a prequel in 'Monsters University.' But the studio is also working on three non-sequels for the future, and have released images from each of them.
We're mere days away from the release of 'Django Unchained' on December 25, so we're surprised there's a new trailer for the film. Then again, so many trailers released now aren't intended to play before movies, but get online audiences interested and stoked for the film.
Though they're still working on script, and should start filming shortly - even after releasing a teaser this summer - we only have a small inkling of what's in store for us when 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' hits theaters next year. But now the picture has a release date, and it means only one thing: Will Ferrell is gunning for an Oscar.
If things went according to plan, Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby' would be hitting theaters next week on Christmas Day, and we might be having a conversation about how Leonardo DiCaprio could be up for both the Best Actor and Supporting Actor Oscar. Instead, the picture moved to May, and we're a little less than six months away from its release. But now there's a new trailer to hold us over.
Last year, 'The Smurfs' made more money than you'd ever think: $142 Million domestic and $564 Million worldwide. So it's no surprise it's spawned a sequel, which will be hitting theaters in 2013. Great. Now there's a trailer for 'The Smurfs 2.'
Though Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' hit screens mere hours ago, it's already on track to have the highest opening weekend of any picture to open in December. That's right, it's on track to open bigger than 'Avatar.'
'Two and a Half Men' star Angus T. Jones, perhaps realizing that he had burned not only his meal ticket but everyone he is still contractually obligated to work with for the rest of this season, has issued a statement about the video where he called the show filth, a video which exploded across the internet yesterday.
So much of the scuttlebutt around movies is usually half-truths. Three weeks ago we reported that Mark Wahlberg might be up for 'Transformers 4.' The next day it was denied. But now it looks like Wahlberg has been confirmed for the movie by the director himself.
With 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2' about to hit theaters, Kristen Stewart is a woman without a franchise. Sure, there was talk of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' becoming a sequel machine, but that talk dried up when things got awkward behind the scenes. Now she's in talks to co-star in 'Focus' with Ben Affleck.
It's been quiet on the 'Muppet 2' front for a while. We knew that James Bobin would return to write and direct, with writing assistance from Nicholas Stoller, and we knew that the sequel would be Jason Segel-free. But it looks like now they've started the casting process for the next film, and the first name is a bit of a surprise: Christoph Waltz.
