Carrie Underwood will now be seen during the opening segment on "Sunday Night Football" on NBC replacing Faith Hill, who recently resigned from the opening gig and would not return for a seventh year. Carrie will be singing a new version of the NBC theme song, "Waiting All Day For Sunday Night" when the season kicks off September 8th when the Dallas Cowboys take on the New York Giants at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Carrie tweeted about receiving the news late yesterday:

Carrie's version will apparently have the same sound as the previous versions sung by Faith Hill and Pink and will sound similar to Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself For Loving You".
