Parking in downtown Tyler will soon be more plentiful thanks to the completion and opening of the Fair Plaza Garage. The grand opening of the Fair Plaza Garage is set for 10a on Wednesday, July 30th.

The new multilevel parking facility at Broadway and Elm will have the capability of parking around 400 vehicles and pays homage to several Tyler historical sites that include the Blackstone Hotel, Tyler Commercial College and the original Smith County Courthouse. One of the highlights of the facility is the clock tower, the tower features original clocks from the old Smith County Courthouse that was demolished in 1955.

The new parking structure was paid for in part by the City of Tyler's half-cent sales tax fund at the cost of nearly $7 million.  Parking fees will apply and will be based on hourly rates with daily rates available too.
